The RRC Team

Photos are on their way, meanwhile here is a brief on each.

Prez and Coordinator, Char Paul

Char Paul  is the founder of RRC coordinates the Team. She updates the blog weekly, admins the facebook page daily and is one of the key grants writers. Char is a project-focused social butterfly and is responsible for touching-base briefly with others, so don’t be offended if she talks only about activities and getting-things-done. A Collaboration Area is hosted at her home to enable social welfare and justice networking, project coordination and small-biz start up mentoring and support.

Char’s other biz is Psycho-Social Incarnation (PSI Tutor:Mentor)~ Higher Ed. learning and development consultant for psych, social work, education, nurses, biz management, communications, marketing and heaps of other social scientist apprentices.

Vice-Prez, Colin Tonks

Our lead literature researcher and grants sorcerer, Colin provides in depth-back ground support for our ventures. He is also one of our IT gurus and dedicated drivers, as well as a key social network promoter and constant source of support, encouragement, insight and devil’s advocate.

Secretary, Breanna Blackman

Busy Bree is one of our key creative crafters and healthy lifestyles coordinators. Breanna coordinates our free and paid childcare services at events and workshops and is one of the Project Manager’s for Kidz Kare Packs (emergency evacuation kits) and Healthy Lifestyle Programs. Her own community org, Healthy Happy Kids, Cairns, provides donations to the RRC funding pool by giving us a portion of her sales and service profits.

Member, Melissa Seneque

Meli is a wealth of QLD Health info, as well as a key grants writer and sorcerer, as well as social welfare networker amongst govt, NGO, NFPs and other community groups locally and across Australia. She is also another of our project coordinators for Kidz Kare Packs (emergency evacuation kits) and Healthy Lifestyle Programs. Meli is a Nutritionist, positive-parenting and facilitates a wealth of other critical social welfare programs with QLD Health.

Treasurer, Robyn Jenkins

Robyn is one of our lead crafters and the point person for technical proofreading of formal documents.

Member, Rhonda Lawsen

Char’s Mum <3 A constant source of love, support, encouragement, insightful ideas and resources. Previously our Treasurer, now a busy PA to a CPA (the RRC Accountant, Char’s sister, SJ Paul).

Member, C. S.

C. S. is our key database set-er-up-er-er. This is a work in progress as we try to coordinate times to pow wow to enable each step.

Member, M.E.

M.E. generously provided a ute for loan, almost always on-call and most times provided petrol as well. The vehicle has since sold but M.E. continues to provide support and insights. He also works as a Master Dive Instructor.

Our History

RRC was founded in 2010 by Char Paul, who was supplementing her income with office cleaning and saw a wealth of resources going to the tip. Starting as an informal community group an online blog in May, Char was passing on goods coming her way with by-donation sales.

In October Char took on a manager, and established a hobby business, The Junk Wave, which became the first small-biz that RRC helped another to set-up, source recyclables, provide storage of items for and to promote using social networking.  Profits were rolled back into the venture to enable the biz to grow, to the point where a not-for-profit offered to incorporate it and enable Youth at Risk crafts programs. Char said big yes, and the manager simply disappeared, leaving Char with stuff-in-storage-left-to-ruin and no credit as to RRC’s part in enabling a successful business to blossom into being.

Henceforth,  RRC so no longer provides long-term storage to others; the costs in space and petrol and service swaps to move (and unfortunately, at times, to dump) are too expensive. We do store what we can use for arts activities, fundraising items and provide short-term storage for community group pick-ups. As some have experienced tho~ there is a two-strike rule, if you do not do us the courtesy of letting us know your plans for pick-up have changed or consistently do not follow through, we stop holding temporary space for you.

Respect.

* Contribute to water and landcare within the Cairns Region specifically through Youth ‘Care for Country’ recyclable arts projects to encourage a culture of volunteerism
